Folds, Walker & Maltby, LLC is a full-service civil law firm serving the legal needs of individuals, families, businesses and local governments.

Our firm’s combined experiences in and out of the legal profession blend more than two centuries of problem-solving skills and know-how to effectively counsel and represent our clients whether the issues are related to family, business, or governmental matters. We have a long history of fulfilling the legal needs of our clients with skilled, personal legal services. We are proud of our new name, but we have the same goal of fostering a firm culture based on traditional professional values. The Partners share the common vision of growing the practice where integrity, hard work, personalized service and excellence define success for our clients and the firm.

Our History

1966

Allison E. Folds began practicing law with his mentor, Osee Fagan, the founding partner of Fagan & Crouch. Osee served as the Alachua County prosecutor for six years before being elected to the House of Representatives. Following three terms in the legislature, Osee served as the attorney for the City of Gainesville for thirteen years. Osee was elected and served as Circuit Court Judge for the Eighth Judicial Circuit from 1979 until his retirement in 1990. Allison continued to grow his practice to include other areas of civil law such as family, medical malpractice, personal injury, probate and estate planning while rising to leadership positions in multiple community organizations. Allison has served as the President of every organization of which he has been a member, including Sigma Nu Fraternity, Gainesville Golf & Country Club, Gainesville Jaycees, Gainesville Quarterback Club, and the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association.

1980

Scott Walker joined the firm as a file clerk and librarian after being interviewed by John Steadham, who was the managing partner of the firm at the time. After the first year of law school, Scott became a law clerk devoting much of his time to learning municipal law and family law alongside his mentor, Allison E. Folds. Upon graduation from University of Florida law school, Scott continued to work for the firm as an associate until he became partner in 1988.

2005

L. Alison Walker joins the firm as an associate attorney. Alison focuses her practice on family law, probate and guardianships.

2007

Norman S. Bledsoe joins the firm as an associate attorney. After several years working for a large firm in Tampa, FL , Norm returned to Gainesville, FL to focus his practice on family law and representing businesses.

2014

David W. Wagner joins as Of Counsel to the firm. After over 21 years of experience representing Alachua County and 20 years in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Officer, Criminal Prosecutor and Associate Professor at the Army’s Judge Advocate School, Dave brings extensive experience when representing clients in the areas of government and administrative law involving real property and law use matters.

2015

A. Derek Folds joins the firm as an associate attorney. Derek focuses her practice on family law and appeals.

Allison E. Folds is honored at the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association’s Law Day event in recognition of over fifty years spent in the practice of law.

2016

Clay Martin joins as Of Counsel to the firm. Clay’s twenty-seven-year career in law, public policy and government service provides a unique perspective when representing clients in the areas of business, real estate and local government law.

2018

Richard B. Maltby joins the firm as a partner. Rich brings decades of experience representing clients in both litigation and transactional matters, and estate planning.

Allison E. Folds is awarded the annual James L. Tomlinson Professionalism Award.  This award is given to a lawyer in the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida “who has demonstrated consistent dedication to the pursuit and practice of the highest ideals and tenets of the legal profession.”

Andrea True, owner and founder of The True Law Firm, joins the firm. Andrea focuses her practice on family law, local government law and general civil litigation

Scott L. Whitaker joins as Senior Counsel to the firm. Scott focuses his practice on business and corporate and estate planning.

2019

The firm name changes to Folds, Walker & Maltby, LLC. With 10 attorneys having over two centuries of experience and another 10 staff members, Folds, Walker & Maltby has established itself as a premier regional law firm.
